Geo-Form,
Inc.

Company:
Geo-Form, Inc.
Product: Waste-Water Treatment Systems
Annual Sales: $200,000
Number of Employees: 6
Year Founded: 1992
Location: Girard, PA.
Situation:
Geo-Form
had already designed and produced a functional prototype of their
patented waste-water treatment system. Encouraged by the success
of this model, Geo-Form decided to produce a full-scale version,
but could not find a partner with the required expertise in composite
materials.
Project:
Geo-Form
approached the PTDC, which assessed the company's needs and determined
it could be best served by Penn State's Advanced Research Laboratory
(ARL), a U.S. Navy Technical center located at the University
Park Campus. The PTDC made the appropriate introductions.
Result:
The
ARL fabricated a full-scale prototype of the large waste-water
treatment facility. The production model will be used for new
facilities and retrofit in 14,000 municipalities using outmoded
systems.

Comments from Michael J. McManus; Vice President:
"On
our own we approached a number of universities that were reputed
to have composite materials capabilities, but weren't having any
luck. The people at the PTDC and ARL were the first who understood
what it was we were trying to do. We never would have found the
ARL on our own."
