Portable, Plastic Keg Cooler

Situation:
Our customer decided to change the shape of conventional Beermeisters. After designing and testing their thermoelectric cooling systems for approximately 2 years within a metal fabricated unit, they were satisfied with the results but desired an "outside of the box", more aesthetically appealing plastic cooler.

Project:
The PTC engaged in the following scope of work:

• Initial Meeting - met with the customer to learn more about the form, function, fit, etc. of the keg cooler and purchased components
  
• 3D Solid Model - developed 3D solid models of the assembly within SolidWorks based on the initial meeting and the design requirements outlined
  
• Review of the Model - the 3D solid model was reviewed and finalized by the customer
  
• Transfer of Model - the 3D solid model was transferred to a tool shop where a cast tool for rotational molding was built for the two piece cooler
  

Project Outcome:
The customer has received production-level coolers and is marketing them via their website located at www.beercooler.com. Sales are expected to exceed the originally anticipated levels within the first year due to the fresh, new cooler design.
