John
P. Beaumont,
Director of the Plastics CAE Center and Assistant
Professor of Engineering
John
Beaumont has over 23 years of experience in
plastics product design and processing. He currently
is an assistant professor at Penn State Erie
where he teaches mold design, product design,
and molding analysis (MoldFlow and C-Mold).
His industrial credits include positions as
Technical Manager for Moldflow Pty. Ltd.'s North
American Operations and Engineering Manager
for Ciba Vision Corporation. Last year, John
established Beaumont Runner Technologies, which
is the exclusive license of the "Melt Flipper"
technology for solving mold-filling imbalances.
Additionally, John is the founder and Director
of the Plastics CAE Center at Penn State Erie
and the past chair of the Injection Molding
Division of SPE. He has several product and
process patents and has served as an expert
witness in mold design litigations. Currently,
John is authoring a book on the practical application
of injection molding simulation, and is on the
advisory board for the Journal of Injection
Molding Technology. John holds a B.S. and M.S.
in plastics engineering from the University
of Massachusetts at Lowell.

Kevin M. Boell
Senior Analyst
Kevin
Boell is a full-time senior analyst with the
Plastics CAE Center. He started with the center
in November of 2000. Previously he was employed
as a senior manufacturing engineering with a
tier-two automotive supply company. He was responsible
for overseeing all part design and mold design
including their CAE group, along with managing
their molding and tooling operations. Kevin
holds an Associate of Science in mechanical
engineering technology from Penn State - Ogontz
and a Bachelor of Science in plastics engineering
technology from Penn State Erie, The Behrend
College.

Marty
J. Dropik
Lecturer
in Engineering
Marty
Dropik brings nearly 21 years experience in
the plastics industry to Penn State Erie, with
a major share of his background in the toy industry
at Fisher-Price, a leading manufacturer of children's
products. He was formally employed with the
Plastics Technology Deployment Center (PTDC)
as a senior plastics engineer from 1997 to 2000.
Dropik holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical
Engineering from the State University of New
York at Buffalo (SUNYAB), where he has taken
additional courses towards his Masters Degree
in Engineering. He is currently enrolled in
the Masters in Manufacturing Systems Engineering
at Penn State Erie. At Fisher-Price, Marty held
a variety of plastics engineering positions,
including Computer Aided Engineering, management,
materials engineering, and processing. He most
recently was a Senior CAE Staff Engineer in
Product Development Engineering. Marty was also
owner and president of Dropik Design Services,
consultants geared towards providing flow analysis,
product design, mold sourcing, and plastics
engineering for companies in the automotive,
medical, and consumer goods industries. Some
of his computer experience includes Pro/ENGINEER,
Moldflow, Ansys, Hypermesh and ADAMS software.
He is currently a member of the Society of Plastics
Engineers (SPE) and the Society of Mechanical
Engineers (SME).

Bradley
Johnson
Lecturer in Engineering
Before
joining Penn State Erie as a lecturer in engineering,
Brad Johnson accumulated 11 years of industrial
experience as a design engineer and project/processing
engineer at OSRAM SYLVANIA, Inc. and a plating
engineer with Torpedo Wire & Strip. His
primary area of expertise is in the injection
molding of thermoplastic and thermoset engineering
materials. Johnson holds master's and bachelor's
degrees in chemical engineering from Virginia
Polytechnic and State University, and an MBA
from Gannon University.

Jonathan
A. Meckley
Lecturer in Engineering
Jon
Meckley is a lecturer in plastics engineering
at Penn State Erie's Plastics Engineering Technology
Program. He was formally employed with the Plastics
Technology Deployment Center (PTDC) as a senior
plastics engineer from 1994 to 1998. He holds
associate and bachelor's degrees in Mechanical
Engineering Technology, a bachelors of
science degree in Plastics Engineering Technology
from Penn State Erie, and a master's degree
in plastics engineering from the University
of Massachusetts at Lowell. After earning his
undergraduate degrees, Jon was employed at Penn
State Eries Plastic Technical Center,
working with solids modeling and operating the
Center's Stereolithography machine. From 1992
to 1994, Jon was a design engineer and co-owner
of Innovation Design Services, Inc., a computer-aided
engineering consulting firm for the plastics
industry. He is a member of the Society of Plastics
Engineers (SPE).
